7th Grade English was privileged to have Captain Dallin Lloyd with Skywest Airlines come and discuss with the students how to overcome adversity . Students are studying Captain Sully, hero if the Hudson River, and were able to ask Captain Lloyd questions regarding the challenges of being a pilot. We were so grateful to have Captain Lloyd visit Central Davis and thank him for his time.

Our choir students recently had the opportunity to attend a choir festival at Viewmont High School. We are proud of the hard work they put into preparing and representing our school so well.

Congratulations to our 2025 Excellence in Education Award — Secondary Honorees: Lindsey Kensinger and Kristine Starkey!

Mrs. Kensinger and Mrs. Starkey received the Excellence in Education Award because their students demonstrated exceptional academic growth compared to other students across Utah who began at similar achievement levels. These awards recognize educators whose teaching helped students to improve more than most of their peers statewide and highlights their impact on student learning and progress.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the You Are the Heart Murdock Family Foundation for making this award possible. We also appreciate Kara Toone from the Davis Education Foundation and Director Jason Smith for taking the time to personally recognize and present this award to our outstanding educators.

Students in Mr. Ferlin’s Psychology class had the opportunity to examine sheep brains as part of a hands-on lab. This activity helped them better understand brain structure and how the different parts of the brain work together. Experiences like this bring learning to life.

We had an amazing Stand4Kind assembly!

Students were inspired to think about kindness, empathy, resilience, and how they can stand up for themselves and others in our school community. This powerful presentation gave everyone practical strategies for creating a positive, supportive school culture and reminded us that we all have the ability to make our school a kinder place.

Thank you to @Stand4Kind for coming to speak with us and helping our students feel empowered and connected!

We loved welcoming so many future students and families to our 7th Grade Course Selection Night!

It was such a fun evening filled with excitement, questions, and lots of great conversations about the upcoming school year. Students had the chance to explore programs, meet teachers, and start thinking about all the opportunities waiting for them in their very first year of junior high.

There is something really special about seeing that mix of nerves and excitement as students begin this next chapter. We are so grateful to the families who came out to learn more and support their students.

We can’t wait to welcome our newest class next year!

America is turning 250 — and our students have something to say.

Davis School District is hosting Voices of a Nation: Student Perspectives on 250 Years of America, a districtwide speaking event aligned with America 250 Utah.

Students from every school and grade level are invited to apply to deliver an original speech about America’s past, present or future.

Selected students will receive mentorship and take the stage on May 4, 2026, at the Davis Instructional Services Center in Layton. The event will be professionally produced and live streamed for the community.

You don’t have to be famous to have something worth saying.

Take the mic. Share your idea. Be part of the story.

Applications due March 18.
