This year you will work hard and learn a lot. The most important thing I want you to know is that you can't learn if you don't take risks and struggle through. You will make many mistakes - just don't give up!
I am so thrilled to be teaching fifth grade at Columbia this year! I love the age of the students and I love the curriculum. I really enjoy teaching fifth graders. It is thrilling to watch them learn and progress. I am a fairly new teacher, but I love education and have always planned to be a teacher. I was fortunate to be able to be a stay-at-home mom for 16 years, and then for several years I worked part-time at numerous schools as a teacher’s aide. Finally, I went back to school and earned my teaching license. This will be my seventh year as a classroom teacher; I taught third grade at Lincoln Elementary in Layton for one year and fourth grade at Valley View Elementary in Bountiful for one year. I taught fifth grade for three years at Bountiful Elementary and now this will be my second year at Columbia Elementary and I love it here. Kaysville is my home town and I'm so glad to be close to home.
In addition to my elementary teacher license, I have a master’s degree from Weber State University and an ESL endorsement through Davis School District.
I am married to the photography teacher at Layton High. We have five awesome adult kids, two sons-in-law and an adorable one-year-old granddaughter. We love to go to Disneyland, camping and hiking together. In my spare time I love reading, doing genealogy, watching movies, and playing games with my family. I love the color purple, peanut M&Ms, dogs, and all kinds of music, books and movies.
I am excited to get to know more students and parents from Columbia Elementary. I hope you will feel comfortable approaching me with any problems or concerns you may have.
