Activities
Columbia Elementary believes in educating the whole child and promotes a holistic educational experience that extends beyond the Specific academic measures that determine a school's state-issued letter grade.
Some of our activities that support this belief are shared here
We promote the Fine Arts & Literacy, by hosting an Arts and Literacy Night
We promote Performing Arts through a School Choir and Orchestra, and other performing opportunities by grade levels
Performing in the Community, such as in the Vivent Arena for the Utah Stars professional basketball team
We have a 6th Grade Orchestra that meets twice each week and performs on occasion
We promote Student Service and Leadership through Student Government and a Student Council
The Student Council oversees Recycling at the school
We promote collaboration through a School Community Council and Parent Teacher Association which are made up of parent and school employee members
We promote Unity and Patriotism by honoring veterans and their families
We promote Citizenship and Civic Duty
Lunch with the Mayor, Katie Witt
Participation in the DARE program with weekly 6th grade lessons from a Kaysville Police Officer
We promote Fitness and Physical Education with our PTA orchestrating our school's main fundraiser, the Fun Run
We host other after-school activities that promote Physical Fitness, such as Race Cats and Karate
We promote Emotional Health by teaching and implementing the strategies of Mindfulness
